Helpful Hand Award
Congratulations to Andrew E. and Matthew H. for receiving the Helpful Hand Award from the Nutrition Department.
We are pleased to tell you about these Dexter Elementary students and their great behavior. On the morning of January 23rd, the Dexter Elementary Cook, Mrs. Van Raden, let me know that they were running low on milk. As I arrived at Dexter Elementary with the extra milk, breakfast was already being served. I decided to wait until the kids had gone through the service line before restocking the milk cooler. As I was patiently waiting and enjoying watching the kids excitement over the banana squares they were having for breakfast, Andrew and Matthew took it upon themselves to come over and help me. They picked up the milk crates, walked them over to the milk cooler, kindly asked other students to step aside and loaded the crates into the milk cooler. They chose to be positive role models and lend a helping hand all on their own. They did it with such pride and huge smiles on their faces. I appreciated the assistance so much that I wanted to let everyone in the West Central Valley School District know! So, I created a new Helpful Hand Award and today I brought them each a certificate and a goodie bag with School Nutrition Smart Snacks. We are very proud of them and grateful for their integrity and kindness.
